Five roles.
One standard.

Ideas, school sport, the pool, the board and the environment — five responsibilities held to the same standard, alongside the community work that runs through them.

01 / Ideas

TEDxWIS

Co-President

As Co-President of TEDxWIS, Ashvik helps lead the student team behind the school's TEDx initiative — shaping its direction, developing the programme, and working with speakers and organisers to bring ideas to a live audience. The role sits at the intersection of curation, event leadership and communication: deciding what deserves a stage, and building the team that puts it there.

02 / School sport

Sports Leader

GEMS Wellington International School

As a Sports Leader, Ashvik contributes to the running of school sport — supporting events, encouraging younger athletes, and representing the student voice within the sporting programme. It is the quieter side of leadership: turning up early, setting the tone, and making the programme work for everyone in it.

03 / Water

Swimming

Team Captain

Captain of the swimming team, competing and representing the school while supporting teammates through training blocks, galas and selection. Captaincy here means leading the warm-up as much as the race — holding standards in the pool, and backing the people in the neighbouring lanes.

04 / Board

Diving

Team Captain

Captain of the diving team, leading a discipline that rewards precision, nerve and repetition. The responsibility is to keep a small squad focused and confident — encouraging teammates through difficult skills and helping the group develop together.

05 / Environment

Sustainability

Prefect — GEMS Wellington International School

As Sustainability Prefect, Ashvik holds a formal school-wide brief for the environment — representing the student body on sustainability, supporting the school's environmental initiatives, and helping keep the subject part of everyday school life rather than a once-a-year assembly. It is the appointment where his own work and the school's meet: the argument Second Stitch makes as a venture, made here from inside the institution.

Leadership philosophy

Lead by example. Build others up. Leave things better than you found them.

Community & volunteering

Community → Environment → Impact.

01

Community

Working with people first — collection drives, donations and initiatives that depend on a school and neighbourhood turning up.

  • Community collection initiatives
  • Second Stitch donations
  • Emirates Red Crescent–related donation activity
02

Environment

Volunteering in the water, and reducing what reaches it in the first place.

  • Dubai Voluntary Diving Team
  • Marine cleanup dives
  • Sustainability initiatives
03

Impact

Measured honestly. Where figures are still being verified, they are marked as such rather than estimated.

  • Textiles redirected from waste
  • Products donated to communities
  • Ongoing partnerships
